Permethrin Blog 2008
Thus I am having an EmergenC, lol Painting up a storm and such.
All I can do is light up the dark. Cover myself in aloe vera and hope
I'll thrive. And paint and dream until they all come true. and be
grateful for all that brings life, which is thriving beauty. |
|
Posted April 25, 2008 I awoke from severe pain that I could not relieve. I felt like my
eyes had been sucked out of my head and I had a sneezing fit. I hadn't
looked at the fog schedule because I needed to focus on the beauty of
life. They indeed fogged last night
24, and will for at least the next several.

Posted April 11, 2008:
Spring came early, this year. Winter was
warm. We had 3 days of storms some rainfall and a very green South
Mountain. Now almost dried up and brown. The fog has effected me in the
minimalist ways, neurologically, irritable, hypersensitivity to noise,
mouth sores and more than usual allergy symptoms, eyes nose and throat
irritation as well as hormonal imbalance.
All of my organic nutritional remedies are
failing me, they save me but I need so much more than what any sensible
person could ever afford.
First there is the amylase, amylase is
amylase. Then there are the Probiotics. The hormones, the
minerals, vitamins, all of which I just can not seem to get enough of
while being bombarded with pesticides, from every direction. Everywhere
here sprays and fogs, and dusts, and baits, and advertises their license
to kill to protect children and pets. Some even say their petrochemical
compounds are made of synthetic flowers, and are all natural.
They are called synthetic pyrethroids, made
from petrochemicals, not pyrethrum, which is made from chrysanthemum.

7) ALLERGIES
In a study of Swedish
children, the prevalence of atopic disorders [allergies] from two
different groups of children was measured. The study compared 295 children
aged 5 – 13 years from two anthroposophic schools [schools with an
alternative approach to education] with 380 children from two neighbouring
state schools. The anthroposophical school children ate a predominantly
organic diet, used antibiotics restrictively, had few vaccinations and
their diet usually contained live lactobacilli [a friendly bacteria found
in the upper intestinal tract of humans and in some yoghurts and in
unpasteurised milk]. It was found that the anthroposophic way of life is
associated with a lowered prevalence of atopy in children. 4
The reduced incidence of
atopic disorders is likely to be the result of a combination of lifestyle
differences between the two groups of children so that the contribution of
organic food consumption is unclear. However, consumption of organic food
is the single most common factor unifying the anthroposophic children.

Health Effects
Permethrin is a member of the pyrethroid class of pesticides. Similar
to other pyrethroids, permethrin alters nerve function by modifying the
normal biochemistry and physiology of nerve membrane sodium channels.
However, EPA is not currently following a cumulative risk approach based
on a common mechanism of toxicity for the pyrethroids. Although all
pyrethroids interact with sodium channels, there are multiple types of
sodium channels and it is currently unknown whether the pyrethroids have
similar effects on all channels. Nor do we have a clear understanding of
effects on key downstream neuronal function e.g., nerve excitability, nor
do we understand how these key events interact to produce their compound
specific patterns of neurotoxicity. There is ongoing research by the EPA’s
Office of Research and Development and pyrethroid registrants to evaluate
the differential biochemical and physiological actions of pyrethroids in
mammals. This research is expected to be completed by 2007. When
available, the Agency will consider this research and make a determination
of common mechanism as a basis for assessing cumulative risk. Therefore,
the human health risk assessment and RED document only considered the
effects of permethrin.
Additionally, the Agency classified permethrin as “Likely to be
Carcinogenic to Humans” by the oral route. This classification was based
on two reproducible benign tumor types (lung and liver) in the mouse,
equivocal evidence of carcinogenicity in Long- Evans rats, and supporting
structural activity relationship information.
